I am a chubby homecook who loves to eat and cook! Cooking with memories of my childhood.

Since young, I had been lamenting why my dad forced me to be in the kitchen and watched him cook dinner while my brothers watched evening primetime cartoons. But yet, I was such a glutton. Whenever I stayed over at my grandparents, I ate non-stop of my grandma’s cooking.

In the hectic lives of Singaporeans, we hardly have time to cook for ourselves and our family especially when eating out is so convenient. That’s what I set out to do – preserve homecooked food the way I remember growing up, the way your corridor smells during dinner time, the taste of home… with memories from the “chef-mastery” of my dad and grandma!

My dad used to be an on-board chef and he cooked “methodologically” and objects to any preserved or chemical food, My mum, on the other hand, with the then popular AMC, Fizzler brands of pots and pans, super love cooking in 1 pot and yes to anything delicious. My paternal grandparents are Teochews from Swatou, China and even though I was not close with them, I remember some of the best Teochew dishes from them! My maternal grandma is a Cantonese who cooked very well and she was the one who really got me loving food!

Food is life! I live to eat! And every dish is cooked from memories, they each have a story, some rooted deeper than others…
