Sometime back after a weekend morning exercise with a group of friends, was brought to this kopitiam to eat Nasi Lemak (which is good btw) and also the carrot cake which got me hooked! And to think that I was just staying at the block in front of this kopitiam some 20 years back but never discovered this stall, bewildered me.
Uncle is a super friendly stall owner. He seems to work alone. He insisted to serve me my plate of black carrot cake at my table but i refused! Its so hard to find stalls who steam their own own carrot cake these days. The carrot cake is really fresh, flavourful and soft!!! But whats best is uncle’s frying skill… Frying the fresh, flavourful, soft carrot cakes with power “wok-hey” and crispy edges…
The black sauce is so good… I love it when its black black black!!! And uncle is not stingy with the eggs and “cai poh” too! I am a sucker for good black carrot cakes… So have yet to try their white ones. They also have “char kway teow” on the menu.
And yes, the plate in this photo is only $2.50!!!
