Poh Guan Cake House needs no introduction – they have been around since 1930!!! Located directly opposite Hong Lim Food Centre, Poh Guan Cake House is the last place you will go and buy cakes!!! Lol…
Whenever I am there I will definitely go by and then pick up a couple of my favourites. Their traditional old school bakes especially those meant for prayers – selection aplenty (huat kueh, teochew kueh, sweet cakes, rice candy and more). Apart from that they also do fresh “Beh Teh Soh”!!! Love ’em.
But what I love most here and are must pick ups for me are their “Peanut Sesame Rolls” (as seen in 1st pic). Think of them as “sticky chewy peanut rolls”! Fragrant… Packed with “gao-gao” peanut flavour – crushed so finely and mixed in with caramelised sugar and flour, pressed and rolled and topped with lots of sesame seeds!!! Heaven!!! The 2nd peanut item to get is similar but with crushed peanuts rolled in. These 2 are da bomb!!! They kinda gone less sweet these days which is even better!!! When they were at the original sweetness – was too sweet but I still love it. Each peanut roll for approx. $2+ i think… And i forgot all about the photos until I finished the last piece.. 😬😬😬
