Bedok 85 during the daytime, though very different from the night, its definitely another good food haven. The man’s sister suggested this for lunch as we were nearby and she stays just opposite!

The small food stall sells only braised duck “lor ark” and it seems like its managed by a family of 3 – dad, mum and son. The braised duck looks so good hanging there and of course including all its accompanying ingredients such as tau kwa, egg, pork belly, etc. We love porridge and can hardly resist them especially with a good “lor”… So for 3 pax, we ordered ½ duck, 4 porridge and many accompanying sides – tau kwa, 2 eggs, pork belly and my must-haves duck wings 4 “ark seek”!!! All these for about $25-$29 (I forgot how much it was 😂😬). Jialat… I confirmed over-ordered!!! Sure kana nag by the man yet again… 😅😅😅

So yes, after the nagging yet again… we proceeded with lunch proper. Lol. The duck was superb!!! The braise was good, just nice for me – neither overly salty nor of the anise star or cloves taste and the duck meat is of the right texture!!! Skin was just nice too – not too skinny nor fatty. I have also come to realise buying the right duck to braise is key and it comes with lots of experience!!!

Not to mention – every single side ingredients we ordered were very good too! No complaints at all!!! I particularly love the pork belly where its fats just melt in your mouth and I can’t get enough of the duck wings!!! The porridge is nice and gooey and hot! Hate cold/lukewarm porridge. The chilli was good too though don’t mind it to be slightly spicier.

In the end, although i was nagged at for over-ordering, we finished everything on the plates!!! For my discerning Teochew tastebuds, this was definitely well-worth my calories, time and money! Yes, Soon Mong again soon!!! Even though the stall’s name reminds me of my dad… 😳😳😳
