Chok “粥” for me anytime please!!! On rainy days like this I SUPER HEART them… Thick yummy homey gooeyness… 😍😍😍

Sin Heng Kee Porridge is famous in Hougang. If you stay around the hood, it needs no introduction. From $4 a bowl – thick, gooey, cooked-well congee with loads of ingredients and the list of ingredients pairing just go on… At least 25 items on the menu – pork, liver, fish, cuttlefish peanut, meatballs, century eggs, frog legs… The star, needless to say is the thick gooey porridge – packed with sweet savoury “porky” goodness!!!

They have some side dishes such as century eggs with ginger slices, abalone slices and fried dough sticks “油条”… However, not a fan of their “油条”. If you don’t mind a queue, you can cross opposite and grab nicer ones at the kopitiam just across the road.

They used to serve dine-in but ever since COVID, they now only serves takeaway. When COVID first started, they even have whatsapp ordering which I love, super convenient but thats again no longer available now. So you have to go down to the outlet and queue! Expect long queues especially on weekends breakfast, lunch and dinner! 😣😣😣 Waiting time is approx 20mins.

The main outlet is at 685 Hougang and a branch at Yishun. However there is also a “Sin Heng Kee” at 122, Ang Mo Kio and its the exact same logo, very similar taste and texture (just slight difference and NO QUEUE!!!) but almost similar menu. So I wonder if its a franchise or its an outlet or… 🤔🤔🤔 According to another food blogger – its helmed by their head chef. Generally its still a weekly affair at Hougang cos its just nicer.
