Its so hard to find good otah these days. I do have a few favourites – Hougang Otah, Lee Wee Brothers and then Hiang Soon Otar Food Catering at Jalan Kayu!!! And making my own otah is such a “chore” – many steps and ingredients involved and then there’s the grilling part.
 
Their standard fish otah is at 60¢ a pc. I love the level of heat and the spices fragrance of this otah! Shiok! And then the flavour is on point – salty enough and you can taste the fish and not the flour! Their fishhead ones are good too at $1 (my parents-in-law love!!!). They do offer non-spicy options and miscellaneous options such as banana leaf otah, squid otah, etc. These days, they also have nasi lemak (sells out fast).
I think smaller otah stalls/seller these days hardly make their own otahs, mostly will get from suppliers like Hiang Soon and just grill.
 
I buy them on wkends, to parties and bbq events all the time. I crave for them and luckily for me, Jalan Kayu is just a 5-6mins drive away! They do have some queues on wkends but service is fast as they are perpetually grilling away! And most people buy like 10, 20…
