I used to eat this everyday when I was just staying beside, mostly for lunch. Eat until the lady boss, even though I have moved away for 3 years now still remember what I love. I will pop by on weekends to savour their homecooked style of food! Best with a bowl of hot porridge!

My man always ask why don’t I eat mixed veg rice outside aka “杂菜饭”. Well, mainly because alot of mixed veg stalls outside they add cornstarch to everything!!! So everything becomes a gooey starchy mess which I really don’t fancy. Just like homecooked food, every dish should have its distinct taste, freshness and not everything starchy. Thats the primary reason.

This mixed veg rice – the winning trait is that it tastes like home. Just like how your granny or your mum will cook. Helmed by a cute couple – the quiet smiley husband will be helming the wok while the friendly pretty wife will be serving the food and cashiering.

Some of my favourites at the stall include their steamed fish (ask boss for the day’s fresh if you are eating a whole or half fish though they have some already cooked but they can cook on order too and its not expensive), meat balls and sotong (if they have is cooked to perfection – boss knows whats a perfectly cooked sotong and on good season, you get the ones with the “roe” 😍😍😍 sometimes if i go late, i will be sharp enough to see if the boss keep some private stash and I will request for him to share half his stash with me). Their veg is also nice – cooked to perfection, not too old and sesame soy sauce chicken wings are good too. White wine clams are an occassional delight!

All these with a hot bowl of teochew porridge (hate it when the porridge is cold so its good here) and the umami soya sauce with garlic and chilli padi!!! Yums! The 1st image with a whole fish was $16 for about 2-3pax. The others are a portion for me myself and I and I usually order fish so its about $7-$8. They do have some lunch crowd queue – expect about 10mins wait. And on weekends most good stuff sold out by 1pm.
