WE EAT WHAT WE COOK, DAILY!

Our tingkat is simply yummy homecooked food with less salt, less oil, less sugar and no-added MSG. Remember the time when you pinched food off the table when your grandmother or mother is cooking? Remember how your corridor smells during dinner time?

Many asked where did I learn to cook? Well, simply put, I learnt from EATING!!! I cook with memories of my childhood, some of my favourites growing up, smell and taste of my grandmothers’ cooking, memories of my grandfather’s dishes, vivid “hatred” when my dad asked me to learn how to cook from him during primetime cartoon on TV when I was 10 years old… the mastery of our local hawkers and some of the missing heritage dishes…

We cook in small batches, i.e.: to fry veg for 100 pax, we literally fry 10 rounds, not all at one go. We eat what we cook, so we only cook things we love and enjoy eating!

You have BEST OF BOTH WORLDS tonight.

Tingkat Dinner (WESTERN): "IKEA" Meatballs

How did this come about? A regular patron who is our no.1 meat patty fan, while eating our bakwan kepiting the other day, suggested Ikea's meatball since going through so many versions of meat patty and balls... Hahaha. Always up for something new and exciting, i thought sure, why not?! So we did our 1st round on 29 April and many loved it and since then, many has been requesting for the return of it. This time round more orders than previous and we "hand-beat-mix" all meatballs and patty. This is one of those days I wish I had a commercial mixer and wonder why with all the labour work, my "bye-bye" flesh is still so apparent!!! 🙄🤣

I followed an online recipe, tweaked it abit with chinese cooking and methods and hand beaten it. Then chilled, fried, baked before letting it roll on a bed of our signature mash. We have mixed minced chicken with minced onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, seasoning. Drizzled with our own-made brown sauce made from the grilled drippings, djon mustard, cream, etc from grilling chicken chops!!! And instead of lingonberry sauce (which we could have bought from Ikea), we made our own with a mix of red and black berries! Whenever I eat IKEA meatballs, I will order extra jam!!!

On the side:
- our very own mash potato - made from whole potatoes, nothing processed and no flour
- broccoli and carrot chunk
- creamy pumpkin soup cooked with lots of pumpkin, herbs and onion

Tingkat Dinner (Chinese): Signature Steamed Meat Patty

Our signature steamed meat patty - minced pork, diced fresh water chestnut, minced prawns, coriander, spring onion, fried shallots and basic seasoning - hand beaten! I really am a fan of my own steamed meat patty and thank you "99" for all the variations I had as a kid and eventually made this my own. Even though peeled water chestnut and prawns are readily available outside but it still has to be fresh ones for us, cos we tried and the taste, texutre just not there!

For customers on no prawn or no pork, yours will be minced chicken with no prawns.

Soup of day: pumpkin soup with onions in our usual chicken bone soup base. If you have extra pumpkin soup, keep them and cook it with leftover rice or as porridge. very very yummy...

Veg of day: broccoli and carrot chunks with oyster sauce, sesame oil and seaweed mix.

Side dish (for rice replacement / paid extra for sides): braised potato.

What Our Customers Say

  • I love this tingkat cos the main dishes and the veggies very tasty considering that my husband and I m very picky.... Second time continuing the service. And because they are very flexible and allow us to choose days and date and other requests, that will explain the cost as well.. as compared to others. So far never try others cos already liked their main dishes a lot...even some dish like marmite chicken which we did not enjoy marmite on its own but ended up we like the dish also. It shows how good their foods are. Looking forward to January meals!

Chance upon the shop through ig post when looking for the Christmas menu for hosting 6 person. The bundle that they have fits nicely for the 6 of us and it comes with drinks too. Making me hassle free to just setting up, plating and cleaning up the celebration. Thank you for making my life easier. The succulent roast chicken, interesting ham terrine, superbly delicious lemon crema sauce for the corn cob, very festive Christmas drink are a hit with everyone. Not even leftover goes to the bin. Will look forward to have chance to order another dishes again.

Have been enjoying Fat Queen Cooks tingkat and festive menu for some years now and feel that the quality and taste are so comforting and reminiscent of my childhood tastes. • Love the home cooked taste. Really nostalgic, feels like I am re-exploring family dishes from my childhood. I think this is very rare in today's fast food dominated market. Don't hesitate to give this a try. Good job fat queen!

Ordered their chicken stew. The broth is thick in flavour and there are sufficient chicken and vegetables inside Cons: the waiting time for food can be long. I waited 15-20 mins for my porridge

The food is totally great and the service is very nice!! I always order 1 Kaya Butter Toast because it is delicious! Kaya is homemade, you can taste a strong flavor of pandan when you eat it. Also the butter is thick and the bread is baked just fine. Strongly recommended when you like to have lunch/dinner at here.

VIsited this place for breakfast and tried their toast set and fried meehoon with curry chicken. The food was tasty and had a home cooked vibe. However, the dessert was too sweet for my liking. The restaurant is very accessible as it is just a short walk from Rochor MRT station. The service was friendly and fast. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a simple and satisfying meal.

  • Small establishment packing quite impressive selection of menus. Their laksa is good; the broth is very thick and rich in flavor, perfect for the rainy day we came in. Other day I bought their beehoon + porridge set and it was also very good.
